Early Years Foundation Stage

At Granpont Nursery School and Childcare we follow the guidance and requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage framework for group and school based providers.  

The EYFS framework: 

  • sets the standards that all early years providers must meet to ensure children learn and develop well 
  • ensures children are kept healthy and safe 
  • ensures children have the knowledge and skills they need to start school 

We use the guidance from Development Matters Development Matters Guidance Document, Birth to Five Matters Birth to 5 Matters document and Nurturing Care Framework Nurturing Care Framework to inform our practice and provision to enable us to provide the best possible care, nurture and opportunites for development for all of out children.

There are seven areas of learning in the EYFS.  Three prime areas and four specific areas;

Prime areas; Communicaiton and Language development, Personal, Social and Emotional development and Physical development,.

Specific areas: Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World and Expressive Art and Design.
